Mini Grilled Cheese Hawaiian Rolls (Printable)

Soft Hawaiian rolls with cheddar and mozzarella, brushed with garlic butter and baked golden for bite-sized comfort.

# What You'll Need:

→ Rolls

01 - 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian rolls

→ Cheese

02 - 8 oz cheddar cheese, sliced
03 - 4 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced

→ Butter Mixture

04 - 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
05 - 1 tsp garlic powder
06 - 1 tsp dried parsley
07 - ½ tsp sea salt (optional)

# Method:

01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Without separating the rolls, slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally using a serrated knife.
03 - Place the bottom half on the prepared baking sheet. Layer evenly with cheddar and mozzarella cheese slices.
04 - Place the top half of the rolls back on to form a sandwich.
05 - In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder, parsley, and sea salt.
06 - Brush the butter mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.
07 - Cover loosely with foil and bake for 10 minutes.
08 - Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and tops are golden brown.
09 - Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then separate into individual mini sandwiches. Serve warm.

# Insider Tips:

01 -
  • The sweetness of Hawaiian rolls paired with savory garlic butter is the kind of flavor combination that makes people close their eyes when they bite in.
  • Everything bakes together as one sheet and you just pull them apart, which means almost zero assembly effort for maximum payoff.
  • They reheat beautifully in an air fryer, so making extra is never a mistake.
02 -
  • If you slice the rolls individually instead of as a connected slab, assembly takes forever and the cheese wont melt as evenly across the whole tray.
  • Do not skip the foil tent because uncovered the whole time means dry tops before the cheese has a chance to fully melt inside.
03 -
  • Let the cheese come to room temperature before assembling so it melts faster and more evenly during the shorter bake time.
  • Brush some of the garlic butter between the layers, not just on top, and you will wonder how you ever made them without doing this.
